Did Jesus really exist?
Yes. Roman and Jewish historians mention Him, and virtually all historians, including sceptics, accept that He lived and was crucified under Pontius Pilate.
Tacitus (Annals 15.44) and Josephus (Antiquities 20.200) both refer to Jesus, and the letters of Paul were written within about twenty-five years of His death. The agnostic scholar Bart Ehrman wrote a book defending His existence (Did Jesus Exist?, 2012).
1Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene, 2during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John, the son of Zacharias, in the wilderness.
